Family Time

Our last Family Time was a blazing success and not because of the extreme heat that afternoon.

Everyone worked hard to create the perfect Fantasy World for a dragon ready for some super dragon stories the following week.

Sudeley Castle

Robins had a fantastic day exploring Sudeley Castle.  Following the trip the children wrote recounts and their thoughts about the trip.  The most popular activity was drawing aspects of the castle.

Our Brooklet sessions are going extremely well.  There are a lot of smiles as children explore their new learning environment and meet new friends.

Casperson Farm Trip

Robins had a great time visiting Casperson’s Farm,  Longhope.    There are a few budding farmers in our mists.  Mrs Casperson taught us lots of information about calves, animal respect and life on a farm.  Mr Casperson demonstrated his farm machinery skills and took us on a tractor ride, up and down a very steep hill.  Dan, an Australian farm hand, played games with us at lunch time.  Bud the working sheepdog took good care of us and demonstrated his excellent skills when he moved the cows from one side of the field to another.  During the walk home we stopped to have some fun in a field.

Special Places

IMG_2296 IMG_2297 IMG_2305 IMG_2306 IMG_2312 IMG_2314 IMG_2316 IMG_2317

During our focus on special places we reflected on what makes somewhere special.  We read a story called Duncan’s Treehouse to begin our thinking.  We talked to our friends about our own special places.  We decided a special place is somewhere we like to spend time.  In our special places we feel safe, we can think and we can play.  Some of us had things we valued in our special places.  We visited our church as part of our look at Special Places.    All Saints Church is a special place for many Christians.  In the church we saw special things.  We saw the font, a lectern, a pulpit and the altar.  We heard music.  We reflected on how we felt in the church.  We had time to think.

At the Seaside

IMG_2267 IMG_2268 IMG_2273 IMG_2275 IMG_2277 IMG_2279 IMG_2286

We pretended to enjoy an afternoon at the seaside.  We paddled in a rock pool.  We swam in the sea.  We jumped the waves.  We sailed a boat.  We played games.  We made sandcastles.  We relaxed on our beach towels.  We ate the fruit lollies we had made with Miss Bullock.

Robins dress in their ‘old’ clothes, got into family groups and travelled back in time to the seaside.

Dad bought the coach tickets for the family.

The journey to the seaside was very interesting.

Families registered into a hotel.

Everyone enjoyed a stroll along the prom prom prom before enjoying a little fun in the rain!

A visit to the Hokey Pokey lady bought a smile to many faces.

A Punch and Judy Show caused rather a lot of laughter.

The next day everyone wrote postcards.

The Jolly Postman

As part of our topic work on The Jolly Postman we met Postman Dave East. Postman East delivered letters for over 40 years in Longhope Village. He told us about the life of a postman and some stories from his days delivering letters. One of his favourite memories of being a village postie was the period of time just before 6am. He would cycle through the village whistling as the sun was rising.

Hail and Outside Play

Robins’ enjoyed playing in the hail storm.  A lot of fun can be enjoyed in 15 minutes. Some of us tried to taste the hail while others made hail men! A few of us made hail angels. We found out that peddaling a bike in the hail is hard work. When we went inside we compared how cold our hands were.
