Parent Governor Vacancy

Governor Vacancies - April 2021

We have a vacancy for a parent governor which we need to fill as soon as possible.  Parent governors are elected by and from the parents of children currently attending our school.  They serve a four-year term of office and bring a very important and valued perspective to the work of the governing body.

Governors are welcomed as valued members of the team at Hope Brook and play a vital role in ensuring the governing body is aware of the views of parents and the local community.

We feel sure that there are parents prepared to take on this important role and give their time and commitment to helping us to continue to improve the school's performance.

You might like to look at the information for prospective governors on the Gloucestershire County Council website   Further information on the role can also be obtained through the school office.

The governing body has a vital role to play in making sure every child receives the best possible education. This is achieved by ensuring that governors have the necessary skills and commitment to contribute to the effective governance and success of the school.  The particular skills that governing bodies need will vary and will include personal qualities and capabilities, such as the capacity and willingness to learn and work as part of a team.  It is expected that governors will make use of the various training opportunities available to them and play a full part in the work of the governing body.

If you are interested in becoming a governor but would like an informal discussion with an existing Governor, a list of Governors is on the school website and contact details can be arranged through the school. Please return the completed nomination form (self-nomination is acceptable), by e-mail to or by posting it through the school letterbox by 12 noon on Friday 28th May 2021.

If there are more nominations than vacancies, an election will be held and you will be sent a voting paper.
