The Hope Brook Curriculum

As a church school, rooted in God’s love and respect for Christian values, we want the young people of Hope Brook to learn and flourish as inquisitive individuals prepared for life in the world – today and in the future. We want our children to be inspired by a well-planned curriculum that is designed to deepen their understanding and broaden their perspectives on life.

We prioritise success in reading, writing, spelling, grammar, science and mathematical understanding, together with confidence in the use of computing. However, we pride ourselves on our ability to balance this with a broad and enriched curriculum that allows our children ample opportunities to explore art, design technology, music, history, geography, religious education and French as well as a wide range of sporting and outdoor activities.

Our PSHE curriculum has been developed to ensure all our children have the skills they need to be a successful member of both our school community and our modern British society. Alongside this, and underpinning everything we do, is our commitment to supporting our pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

At Hope Brook, we teach each subject discreetly to ensure children have a clear understandning of the subject disciplines. Teachers will sometimes make links between subjects to further enhance the curriculum. Please click on the link below to access our 'Subjects in a Nutshell' documents for further details.

Curriculum Organisation

The five class mixed year structure of our classes at Hope Brook means we have to carefully plan the curriculum organisation. For some subjects we use a one year programme but for most subjects we follow a three year rolling programme.
