Robins Autumn Term 2023-24

Dear Robins,

Welcome back,

I hope you have all had a good half term break.

This term is an exciting and busy one as we prepare for the magic of Christmas.

Our topic is "Castles and Dragons", we will find out about castles, the materials used to build them ,how they are different to our homes today and who would have lived in them.

This term PE will be on a Tuesday and Outdoor Learning will be on a Wednesday. Please can you ensure appropriate clothing is left in school for these lessons.

Today we took part in a Remembrance service led by Kestrels class. The children in Robbins made poppies and planted them in sand on the stage. It was a very thought provoking and moving service which was attended by members of the British Legion. We finished by walking to the War Memorial at the recreational ground and laying wooden crosses during a two minute silence. (A2)

During our 'Golden Glue Spot' we talked about working together in Robins class, celebrating our differences and our hopes for the future. We joined hands in a a heart shape to reflect our vision (A1)

Today we were lucky enough to have some insect visitors in school! This was definitely a WOW moment to celebrate!

They were very difficult to see in their habitat of brambles, but once they were on the carpet the children watched closely and found out about all about them.

Did you know?

Stick insects have holes down the side of their bodies, which they breathe out of.

They're able to camouflage themselves to ensure they are protected from predators. They can even sway in the breeze like real sticks. They do this to mimic real sticks when they're in distress. (A1)

We enjoyed designing and making dens with our friends in the outdoor area. We worked together, solved problems and asked for help when we needed it. After we constructed our dens then we enjoyed lots of imaginary play ! (A1)
